_Dichteminderung
The first episode
patients showed density reductions of gray matter in bilateral
perisylvic regions and in the operculum and insula, bilateral
changes in medial and lateral frontal regions and in structures of
left inferior temporal lobe and the left-sided limbic system (in
ACC bilaterally ) and in both thalami.
confirmed in the group of relapsing patients, this pattern, these changes
are therefore assumed to be stable. The recurrent
ill patients, however, showed stronger and broader
density reductions: the hippocampus and amygdala were now both sides changed
, other important prefrontal areas were affected, the
thalamic changes were more pronounced. Also, the parahippocampal gyrus and basal ganglia
(caudate nucleus and putamen) have now shown
density reductions.
